Mercury Filmworks is looking for an experienced Unreal Technical Director to join our team. Job Description: 

The successful candidate will have an exceptional track record with hands-on experience as an R&D Technical Director or with related work experience. What is different at our studio is that we are embracing Unreal Engine as “The Medium” to continue our fantastic traditional 2D character-based storytelling in the world of 3D. The goal and ambition at Mercury Filmworks is to utilize the full Unreal Toolkit, Motion Capture, Non-Photo Real Rendering, custom tools, and expressive audio to create innovative stylized filmmaking!

Technical Skills/Qualifications:

  • Support the project teams with the technical implementation in Unreal;
  • Help drive the planning and implementation of editor and tools features;
  • Create and debug shader and materials graphs throughout production;
  • Support performance profiling and run time efficiency efforts;
  • Experience with lighting, modeling, rigging, and texturing for Unreal;
  • Experience with other sculpting packages, such as Mudbox or Zbrush;
  • Experience using Substance Painter and Designer;
  • Experience of using the Sequencer within UE4;
  • Excellent C++ skills;
  • Prior experience building pipeline tools for production in either Maya or Unreal;
  • Experience using Blueprint Visual Scripting;
  • Experience in integration mocap in Unreal Engine;
  • Experience with the animation tools and rigging in Unreal;
  • Experience creating environments using Unreal Engine;
  • CG Generalist skillset using Maya for cinematic, game, television, or commercial projects;
  • Python skills are a plus!
